Downtown Warsaw - Business District In the past, the Oldtown Market Square constituted the city center. But, in the 1990s a major wave of reconstruction took place, with new hotel, office, and condominium blocks being erected on cleared sites. The city center is now focused around Aleje Jerozolimskie, one of the city’s main arteries, running from the Powisle area to the city’s western limits. It is home to the Palace of Culture and Science, designed by Lev W. Rudnev in 1952-55 as a gift from the USSR. Nearby is the Central Station, built in the early 1970s. Other postwar landmarks in the downtown area include the Marriott-LIM tower and the Hotel Forum. Marszalkowska, running north-south across the city center, is second only to Nowy Swiat as a shopping street in Warsaw.
Bank PKO Rotunda – A well-known Polish bank situated in the heart of the business district. You can exchange money or get cash advances here.
It is also a very popular “meeting place” to meet up with friends. Commonly referred to as the “Toilet Seat House” because of its particular facade.
